Kate Bialo ( Executive Director) – Ms. Bialo is an attorney admitted to practice in New York and Texas with extensive corporate legal experience as in-house counsel to several international corporations. She is a graduate of University of Illinois (BA) and University of Texas Law School (JD). She is a Past President of The Junior League of Westchester on the Sound (2001-2002) and was the driving force in the founding of Furniture Sharehouse. She has received numerous awards in recognition of her work with Furniture Sharehouse, including United Way of Westchester & Putnam’s 2010 Dorothy Allen Community Service Award; Larchmont-Mamaroneck Tri-Municipal Human Rights Commission 2011 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Award; L’Oreal 2012Woman of Worth Award; 2013 New York State Woman of Distinction nominated by Sen. George Latimer; 2015 Leadership Westchester Alumna of the Year.
Ken Bialo (Director) – Mr. Bialo is a lawyer in NYC with 37 years of experience in litigation of complex cases in the US and Canada. Mr. Bialo is a graduate of University of Rochester (B.S.), New York University Law School (JD) and London School of Economics (LLM). A former Mayor of Larchmont, Mr. Bialo is currently Vice Chair of the NYS Municipal Bond Bank Agency and head of the litigation practice at Emmet, Marvin & Martin, a 204 year-old Wall Street law firm.
Patricia Brown (Treasurer and Director) – Ms. Brown is a Principal with the international tax & accounting firm of KPMG, where she has specialized in international assignment tax and global mobility services for more than 17 years. Ms. Brown also served The Junior League of Westchester on the Sound as Treasurer for two years and Ways & Means Vice President for one year.
Christine Eifler (Director) – After a career in consumer banking, Ms. Eifler retired to raise her family in White Plains, NY, and was active with the PTA and PTA Council. She has also been active in civic affairs, and served on the White Plains Recreation Advisory Board. In 1996 she was named to the NY Hospital Task Force, a group appointed by the mayor to work with NY Presbyterian Hospital to seek a balance of appropriate land use for the benefit of the hospital and the city. She has also worked with Gilda's Club and as a Literacy Volunteer.
Caryl Hahn (President, Director) - Caryl Hahn brings more than 25 years of advertising and marketing experience to Furniture Sharehouse. Her career spanned both agency and client sides of the advertising industry. Caryl was VP, Global Media Director at MasterCard International, where she oversaw an advertising budget of $250 million. Caryl also served as Marketing Director for VisionAWARE.org, an organization that serves those living with vision loss. In addition to her work on the Board of Furniture Sharehouse, she is also responsible for its website.
Rebecca Mazin (Director) – With more than 20 years of Human Resources experience and expertise, Rebecca Mazin co-founded Recruit Right to create usable solutions for employers to meet increasingly complicated human resources challenges. Prior to founding Recruit Right, Rebecca held key management positions at major organizations including Hyatt Hotels, Owens Corning and the NLRB. Rebecca is a graduate of Cornell University with a degree in Labor Relations. She is the author of The Employee Benefits Answer Book: An Indispensable Guide for Managers and Business Owners, published in 2010, and co-author of The HR Answer Book: An Indispensable Guide for Managers and Human Resources Professionals, published in 2004 with a revision in June 2011.
Kathy McGrath (Director) - Mrs. McGrath retired in 2011 from education after a 39 year career. She spent 33 years as both as a teacher and administrator at Pelham Union Free School District. Her most recent positions in Pelham included District Director of Technology and Director of Secondary Education. Mrs. McGrath received her BA in Mathematics from the College of New Rochelle and her MA in Mathematics Teaching from Lehman College. She received her administrative certification from the College of New Rochelle. Until a few years ago, Mrs. McGrath was the St. Bernard’s Church coordinator for the Open Arms Saturday outreach program. She currently serves as the Director of Volunteer Development for Furniture Sharehouse.
Laura Ruddy (Director) -- Ms. Ruddy is a marketing communications professional with over 20 years experience in various industries for Fortune 500 companies and not-for-profit organizations. She has extensive community relations and volunteer experience both in corporate as well as her personal life. Ms. Ruddy is presently pursuing a Masters in Communications from Sacred Heart Univeristy. She received a Bachelors of Science in Management and Communications from Adelphi University and a Graduate Certificate in Business Mastery from New York University. Currently, Ms. Ruddy is an advertising consultant for financial services while also serving as the Director of Communications (Social Media & Public Relations) for Furniture Sharehouse.
Nancy Stuzin (Director) -- Nancy has extensive experience with not-for-profit and educational organizations. She is a founding executive board member of Impact100 Westcheser, where she curretly sits on the Advisory Council. Nancy is also a volunteer and Advisory Board member of Yonkers Partners in Education. She received a B.S. in Economics from Cornell University and serves on several councils including: Cornell University Council, Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador, Cornell University Library Advisory Council, Cornell Human Ecology Alumni Advisory Council and the Cornell Human Ecology Dean's Advisory Council. Nancy is an attorney and a partner in Acceptance Ahead, Inc, a private college counseling business based in Westchester County, N.Y. Nancy received a J.D. from Hofstra Law School. She has resided in Westchester County for the past 17 years with her husband, Randy and their 3 children. She enjoys skiing, cooking, reading and traveling in her spare time.
Catherine Wachs (Director) -- Ms. Wachs has over 30 years’ experience in advertising design and marketing for Fortune 500 companies. She is a cum laude graduate of Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She is the owner and Executive Creative Director of Right Brain Design, a web design and marketing firm. Over the past decade, she has focused on environmental sustainability issues, first with the Westchester League of Women Voters and then as the award-winning producer of the television series “The Lazy Gardener.” The show inspired her to create a landscape design firm, also called The Lazy Gardener, which installs private and public gardens for townships all over Westchester, NY.
Linda Ellis (Director) Linda Ellis has been a volunteer tutor at Literacy Solutions NY, Inc. since 2003. Her prior teaching experience includes more than 20 years as an adjunct instructor, teaching writing and literature in local colleges - Elizabeth Seton, Westchester Community, and Pace University. Linda is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and The Graduate Center of City University of New York.
