Furniture Sharehouse

Third Saturday in January + Volunteer NY!’s MLK Day of Service = One Super Tidy Warehouse!

On Saturday, January 16th, Furniture Sharehouse was honored to participate again this year as one of Volunteer NY!’s Dr. Martin Luther King Day of Service volunteer projects.  We really scored in the volunteer department – Alisa Kesten, Executive Director of Volunteer NY! was our project Site Captain, and we had a crew of 8 enthusiastic new volunteers, including five from The Journal News/LoHud, and three new community volunteers.

Our eager volunteers jumped right in, straightening the sofa/armchair rows, organizing the lamp department, digging out the dreaded bookshelf corner of the warehouse so clients can actually select a bookshelf now, and tidying the Bonus area where our clients have so much fun selecting household and decorative items as a last stop on their visits.

Thanks to Board Member and Volunteer Coordinator Kathy McGrath for overseeing the Event, and thanks to all our new BFFs for your energy and enthusiasm on a chilly morning!
