Thank you to all our Mother's Day donors -- there will be many happy moms sharing a family meal with their children at the kitchen table and tucking them into real beds at night, thanks to your generosity.
We made sure the kids got their original cards back in time to give to their moms on Mother's day, and we also delivered baskets of books and art supplies to their program directors at Westhab, Hope's Door and Westchester Jewish Community Services.

Thanks again to all our participating agencies! -- Kate Bialo
M. B. & Edna Zale Foundation Gives Furniture Sharehouse a $10,000 Challenge Grant
At Furniture Sharehouse we’re quite familiar with challenges. The challenges our clients face, day in and day out, to create a comfortable and stable home for their families. The challenges we face in keeping our warehouse stocked with the most needed items. The challenges case workers face as an ever-increasing number of people seek their help.
But now we face a new challenge, a challenge that we welcome.
The M.B. & Edna Zale Foundation, which provided us with support in our very first year of operations back in 2007, has renewed its support for our mission with two new grants -- $10,000 for general expenses, and a $10,000 Challenge Grant to attract NEW DONORS in 2010 with a dollar-for-dollar match up to $10,000.
Will you help us meet that challenge?
Please tell your family, friends and neighbors about Furniture Sharehouse and our important mission, and let them know that a donation in 2010 will do twice as much good, thanks to our friends at the M. B. & Edna Zale Foundation. To help us earn these matching funds, donate now.
Mamaroneck HS Drive a Huge Success
Furniture Sharehouse’s Mamaroneck High School Furniture Drive on Saturday, March 20 was a great success! It was the first day of spring, the weather was gorgeous, and everyone was inspired to bring us that extra furniture they’d been tripping over in their garages and basements all winter.
We had 48 donors and more than 220 items donated -- that's close to the record for most donors and THE RECORD for items donated at any previous drive. There were times when we had 4-5 cars lined up waiting to drop off their furniture. The response was so good that we think we will make it an annual event -- provided, of course, that we can get a guarantee from Mother Nature for another day as beautiful as the one we had!
Furniture Sharehouse collects gently-used and new furniture from the general public and vendors and redistributes it free of charge to clients referred by member social service agencies, ensuring that it goes DIRECTLY to those who truly need it. Our clients include: those moving out of homeless shelters into permanent housing; battered women and children escaping domestic violence; working families struggling to stay above the poverty line; young adults aging out of foster care; victims of fires or other natural disasters.
Won’t you help us make a house a home for a needy family in Westchester County?
