ABOUT US

Our Mission:
Furnishing Empty Homes with Hope and Dignity

As Westchester’s only furniture bank, we collect your gently used, unwanted furniture and give it a second life by distributing it FOR FREE to economically disadvantaged families and individuals across Westchester County. We keep thousands of pounds of furniture out of the waste stream while furnishing hundreds of homes each year for the people who need it the most.

Our clients are referred to us by our 48+ Member Agencies, and include those moving out of homeless shelters, escaping domestic violence, working families living in extreme poverty, veterans struggling with financial hardship, young adults aging out of foster care, victims of natural disasters and refugees.

Depending on the client’s needs, Furniture Sharehouse provides each household with beds and dressers, couch, armchair, kitchen table and chairs, occasional tables, night stands, lamps, rugs, artwork, kitchen and household items, and more. Clients come by appointment to our warehouse, where they meet a volunteer Personal Shopper who escorts them through the warehouse and helps them select furniture to suit their tastes and needs. The furniture is then delivered to our clients, transforming their empty apartments into comfortable homes.
