Furniture Sharehouse is proud to be celebrating 15 Years of Furnishing Hope!

Fifteen years ago, Furniture Sharehouse didn’t exist, and hundreds of families escaping dire personal circumstances were sleeping on the floor and living in empty apartments because they couldn’t afford basic furniture.  Now, thanks to Furniture Sharehouse, and our valued Member Agencies and generous supporters, more than 16,000 people, including over 7,800 children, are getting a good night’s sleep, sharing family meals at a table, keeping their belongings organized, and living in dignity and comfort.

We are still working with clients who have always needed our help over the years — people moving out of homelessness, escaping domestic violence, exiting prison, struggling with mental or physical disabilities, aging out of foster care, as well as senior citizens and veterans with limited income.

But now we have even more people who need our help — those who lost employment and/or housing due to the pandemic, those who lost all their belongings in the Hurricane Ida flooding, and the increasing number of refugees arriving daily in Westchester from Afghanistan and other countries, and soon from Ukraine.

We could not have reached this milestone without the support of so many — the County, our Member Agencies, community partners, furniture donors, generous financial supporters, and most importantly, our incredible volunteers, who have continued to bring their empathy and enthusiasm to helping our clients rebuild their lives with the comforts of home.

Thank you to them all!

We have already begun celebrating our 15th Anniversary Milestone with several exciting events, including:
  • Our 15th Anniversary Reception held at our warehouse on April 6th to acknowledge and thank Westchester County and other elected officials, our Member Agencies, community partners, generous donors and amazing volunteers for getting us to this milestone.
  • Our very successful 15th Anniversary “Furnishing Hope” On-Line Auction Fundraiser held April 14th – 20th, which featured special mid-century modern pieces, fun contemporary furniture, interesting artwork, and more, with all net proceeds going towards furnishing families in need.
  • Our participation in Larchmont’s “Arts on the Avenues” month-long arts festival which pairs artists with local merchants to display and sell their art, with selected artwork from our inventory on display and for sale at The Idea Kitchen, 1940 Palmer Avenue at Chatsworth Avenue, from April 1st – June 30th.  Come browse and buy a fun variety of artwork at bargain prices to help furnish families in need!
Additional upcoming 15th Anniversary Events include:
  • Our 15th Anniversary Furniture Drive sponsored by Corcoran Legends Realty with the students of Sleepy Hollow High School on Saturday, May 14th from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at John Paulding School.
We are also planning a series of “15th Anniversary Moments” to highlight special events/supporters from past years — more details to be announced!
