This Holiday Season, Will Your Help Fight Furniture Poverty in Westchester?

FURNITURE POVERTY is an urgent and often hidden need,

even here in Westchester County.

In 2023, Furniture Sharehouse has had the privilege of furnishing nearly 400 homes of individuals and families in need. But furniture poverty remains an urgent need right here in Westchester County. In the last three months, requests to furnish struggling households increased by 30%.

What is furniture poverty?  It is individuals and families struggling with financial hardship living in empty apartments because they have no money to buy furniture, even at thrift store prices.

Why the increase in need? Recent flooding, a surge in newly-arrived immigrants and general increased financial hardship.

What can you do?  This holiday season, your financial gift means the difference to so many between sleeping on the floor and storing possessions in plastic bags, or living in comfort and dignity with free furniture from Furniture Sharehouse.
