Scarsdale High School Social Entrepreneurship Teacher Tabitha Sasso invited Furniture Sharehouse to visit her enthusiastic and engaged classroom to discuss furniture poverty in Westchester County, and discuss how we address this often hidden need.
The classroom goal is to connect students with real-world social impact organizations that are making a difference in our local community. Ms. Sasso says, “Furniture Sharehouse immediately came up in my search.”
Executive Director Kate Bialo shared her experience building the organization, working with social service agencies across the County to identify families in need and then furnishing their empty homes for free.
Kate was joined by Scarsdale HS Senior Lance Simon, who generously volunteers his time with Furniture Sharehouse and donates his original artwork to the organization for clients to select from.
