You can review our Donation Guidelines here. Please note that your items must be in GOOD condition and moderately-sized to fit in small apartments.
Our clients have been through tough times – homelessness, domestic violence, foster care, addiction, physical and mental disabilities, persistent poverty and more. We want to help them create a home environment that is comfortable and dignified and makes them feel proud and hopeful. Here’s a rule of thumb: If a furniture piece isn’t good enough for you to give a friend or a relative, it’s probably not good enough for our clients.
Most of our clients live in small apartments, with no elevator and narrow hallways and stairs. Check out our Tough Deliveries. We cannot take items that we know we cannot give right back out to clients.
Yes! Pick-up is available as follows:

Our professional moving crew will come into your home to remove your qualifying donations. You do not need to help.

We are typically booked out two weeks ahead of time, so please plan accordingly. If we are not able to meet your deadline, please consider dropping off your items at our warehouse with your own mover or vehicle. Click here for Drop-Off information.
Yes! You will receive a receipt itemizing your donation items (we do not provide or confirm valuation of donated items) from our mover upon pick-up, or from our warehouse personnel if dropped off at our warehouse.
We want to help as many people truly in need as we can, so only clients referred by one of our Member Agencies are eligible to receive furniture from us. This is to ensure that our clients are vetted and that our furniture is going to those who need it most. You must be resident in Westchester County and cannot have received furniture from Furniture Sharehouse in the past.
Our 45+ Member Agencies are listed here. When you find an agency that seems like a good fit, be sure to contact them directly either through their linked website or a phone number. Please note that you must contact the agency directly, as we cannot help you get in touch with them.
We cannot guarantee a referral, as these organizations have their own eligibility requirements to become a client in their programs, and we have no control over what these are. However, we have 45+ Member Agencies serving clients with a broad spectrum of needs to ensure you have the best chance of being able to find one that will be able to assist you.
We are not open to the public and only clients referred by a Member Agency with an appointment and accompanied by a case worker may come to the warehouse.
We want to make sure our furniture gets to those who need it most. Those include people moving out of homeless shelters, or fleeing domestic violence and leaving belongings behind, those who have suffered loss due to fire, flooding or other disaster, or eviction, aging out of foster care, refugees – i.e., people living in empty apartments who cannot afford even the most basic furniture. We do not provide furniture to people who already have the basic furniture and are “shopping for an upgrade”.
Appointment procedures are detailed in the Client Referral Guidelines.
PLEASE REVIEW THE CLIENT REFERRAL GUIDELINES VERY CAREFULLY WITH YOUR CLIENT so that there are no surprises when you both arrive at our warehouse for your appointment. Failure to comply with these Guidelines could result in your appointment being cancelled upon arrival.
It is important that your clients have the right expectations as to number, condition, type and size of items available to them so there are no misunderstandings upon arrival.
